Dedicated Dreamers
Since January of 2017, Planting Seeds has been supporting Beaverton children through drives and service learning projects. Our mission is to help people understand the power they have to change lives for the better. Made up of moms, retirees, and doers, we are committed to creating positive change one child and one action at a time.
Our actions vary from donation drives to our "Flurry of Giving" program. Dig around our website to see if there's something you would like to participate in!

What We Do
Our Work
The volunteers of Planting Seeds partner with counselors, social workers, teachers and administrators to create service learning opportunities and meet needs for students and families in the Beaverton School District.
One day we might be holding a session in a classroom or with a high school club, speaking with Beaverton's students about the needs in our community and brainstorming about how the group can help. Another day we might be facilitating a 5K to help prevent evictions for local families.
Less glamorous but just as important is the work we do behind the scenes to make sure that hungry kids are getting backpacks during the weekend or long breaks or fundraising to find household goods for a family that just got a new apartment.

Beaverton School District WE Community Partnership Award
May 4, 2017
Sexton Mountain's Planting Seeds initiative took root following winter break and an onslaught of snow days. For several families in the community, no school meant their children wouldn't have access to the school breakfast and lunch program they count on.

"Planting Seeds" for Food Insecure Families
March 31. 2017
"We are a school of privilege. So I think we make an assumption that everyone is doing OK. So to find out that there are families falling through the cracks, we wanted to create a food support program for the families at our school."
